“People are terrified of beauty because it makes ugliness more noticeable.”

I have never thought about the increasing ugliness in art, architecture, even clothing in this way. I also think that beauty requires courage, which has slowly been beaten out of all whatever is the ruling establishment. Beaten down, cowed, subservient indentured workers, serfs, at best hungry, weak proles who cannot afford in anyway to stand out.

Of course, our elites have also lost the habit and the training needed of looking good. Too many of our politicians cannot even wear a business suit well, which is what it is designed for.

Beauty can also give hope, strength, spirit to both the individual and the community, which is a threat to those in power.
