I’ll post “my hits” as soon as my daughter wraps up her basketball season. They are currently 0-7. Will they win the final game? I’m taking action on the game now. The problem with Social Security isn't "fraud."
The problem with Social Security is that as the rich have gotten richer, more of their income has escaped the cap on the SS payroll tax.
In fact, millionaires stop paying SS taxes today.
We can fix this by scrapping the cap.

I realized I was stuck in a loop 🔁 waking up, opening Substack, checking that my scheduled newsletter was delivered, posting a note, maybe reading a note, engaging with commenters… then repeating it all the next day.
Well, today I broke the cycle! I opened Substack and visited each of my subscribers and those I subscribe to. I liked, I commented, and some posts I can’t wait to read again. From now on, I’ll be engaging with intention.

I’m no constitutional law scholar, but shouldn’t the Democratic members of congress be filing for restraining orders to stop each of the illegal (meaning contrary to the constitution or federal statutes) acts of Trump or his proxies? Why are they leaving it to the states and individual citizens?
This is not the U.S.A. I know and love. To my international friends and connections, we are so very sorry. Us being Americans, most of us.
Only about a third of the country voted for this manipulative conman, and a third of the country did not vote. Few approve of the recent abuses of power in American democracy. I hope this reckless ego contest implodes, and soon.

The rights of the many are compromised by the elected few.
People are not only unaware of their rights, but most of the time, they aren’t even aware that they are giving them away so freely, without consent.

Evangelicalism had way more fear baked into it than we realized—fear of “the world,” fear of getting it wrong, fear of hell.
So much of what we were taught—evangelism, behavior modification, even Bible study—wasn’t about encountering the beauty, peace, and radical love of God. It was about defending against an enemy.
We weren’t learning how to love—we were learning how to fight. And now, actual empathy gets treated as a threat.
It’s heartbreaking. But I think more people are starting to wake up to it.

Another day, another Trumpster fire.
Fink and BlackRock continue to cater to the CEO class along with Vanguard, Fidelity and the other large asset houses. They continue to embrace stock option compensation and increasing CEO pay that is wildly out of wack from the average worker. I spend considerable time each proxy season going over the statements of the modest holdings in my portfolio. Most of the time I vote no on the advisory compensation question. ESG is tarred because of the Environmental and Social part of the triad when it is Governance that is the most important (at least to me).
