Apparently Europe didn't get the message...

I’ve tried dozens of estimation methods.

7 tips that actually deliver results:

0. Break it down:

🪄 Divide the project into smaller tasks. Estimate each piece individually for better accuracy.

1. Use historical data:

🪄 Look at past projects. Use similar tasks as a reference to guide your estimates.

2. Add buffer time:

🪄 Always include extra time for unexpected issues. It’s better to under-promise and over-deliver.

3. Consult the team:

🪄 Get input from colleagues. Different perspectives always help to refine your estimates.

4. Be realistic:

🪄 Avoid over-optimism. Consider potential roadblocks and complexities (it's the one I struggle the most with).

5. Reevaluate regularly:

🪄 Update estimates as the project progresses. Adjust based on new information or changes.

6. Communicate clearly

🪄 Set clear expectations with stakeholders. Explain assumptions and potential risks to your PM.

How are you estimating?
