The app for independent voices

I do recall, but only vaguely. My husband and I eloped to Idaho because we were both 20. I was of legal age in Oregon, but Oregon law required men to be 21. Idaho allowed marriage at 19 for both sexes, so in the middle of a bitter winter, off we went, young and naive. I remember Frank Church only because his father witnessed for us in a small town church (not Mormon, of course) in western Idaho. At the time not at all interested in Idaho politics. Years later, post divorce and grad school, I worked for state of WA, and in my position had some cross-border interactions with Idaho gov. THEN I got interested, and learned about what some at the time called Idaho's near-enlightenment. My folks filled me in from their experiences. My brother in the Air Force was assigned for a while to an airbase in Idaho. He could hardly wait to get out.
