The Trump admin stockpiled HCQ for widespread distribution but the plan was scrapped somehow. At the time the media Birx and Fauci were doing their best to discredit HCQ and undermine early treatment. Then the media turned the table more and claimed that the stockpiling was driving up the cost for people who could actually need the drug. I looked a while back but couldn't find what ever happened to the stockpile.
