I have written about this and I used to talk about it on my Instagram, but the comments in the response were always blaming me. I basically stopped.

The following are true about French culture overall and they have been documented.

This is not to say Americans are perfect or all French do this, but these are pretty accurate.

• It’s a “no” culture requests and questions are often first met with no and you negotiate someone into “yes”

• They are taught to criticize harshly and praise sparingly

• Wealth/success is by luck or inheritance not hard work

• They often make friends in school and keep them for life without making new ones

• Positivity or sharing good news can be seen as bragging or will get people talking about you behind your back “Who does she think she is telling me about her renovation? En peu gonflé …”
