In Yemen, the Supreme Military Committee (SMC), headed by the commander of the Saudi Joint Forces Command (JFC), continues its integration and restructuring efforts for forces aligned with the anti-Houthi coalition under the banner of the internationally recognized government of Yemen.

The video below shows a Saudi captain who I suspect is from the JFC’s 64th Special Forces Brigade, without a visible name tag or unit emblem, was filmed speaking with Lt. Gen. Tariq Saleh, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and commander of the National Resistance Forces (NRF). During the meeting, the captain presented a biometric eye and retina scanner used to register personnel, verify identities, and match each fighter to official records. The system is designed to confirm troop numbers and reduce duplicate or inaccurate listings.

The captain also thanked senior NRF commanders for supporting the registration process and expressed hope that Yemen would be united again. Some may read that as a reference to north and South Yemen, but the message is more tied to ending Houthi control and restoring state authority.

This biometric program is part of a wider push to build a clean and reliable database of forces. It also lays the groundwork for salary payments now handled by Saudi Arabia, which has taken over funding after the expulsion of UAE forces from South Yemen earlier this year.

The future structure of the NRF is still unclear. Options under discussion include a rebrand, similar to how the Security Belt Forces became the National Security Forces, or integration into the Ministry of Interior like Hadramawt-based Support Security Brigade (SSB) and the Elite Hadrami Forces (EHF). Another possibility is forming a new division under the National Shield Forces (NSF), or placing these units under the Fourth Military Region Command of the Yemen National Army with a new command setup under the Minsitry of Defense.

For now, these are still possibilities. No final decision has been announced.
