I went to an urban high school. I recall in my freshman homeroom my youthful teacher who once spoke about having a daughter and bring a single mother. One day a girl in class, perhaps 15 years of age and Black, who also had a child and they both were discussing motherhood. I recall looking over at this girl and thinking how is she going to manage school studies and motherhood. I hope she did. The child now if it survived, would be around 55. But I think there were so many obstacles to overcome. That’s all I have on the topic. I found the teacher about 10 years ago. We had a brief email. She was still teaching part time. Time flies.
