The fundamental problem with progressivism — and I say this as someone who was a leftist for my entire life, until maybe five years ago—is that progressives want there to be a different reality than the one that is, and become angered when confronted with reality, and blame whoever is presenting that reality to them for being the perpetrator of whatever unpleasant or imperfect reality presented.
For the rest of my life, I will never understand how a country full of people busting their asses, working paycheck to paycheck, allow the fucking richest guy on Earth to call them "parasites" while calling the Social Security we contributed to our entire lives "a Ponzi scheme."

And so many are so very stupid to think it’s a “handout.” Employees (us) pay 6.2% of our paychecks and the employers pay 6.2% so total is 12.4% of our pay goes to SS. If Congress didn’t drool over the abundance of money in it they would never have taken “loans” that they never repaid to balance the budget, which they haven’t done since Clinton days. Sadly, many folks are living their lives fearful, angry, and at a loss for how to stop the pain, much less improve things. Adding additional stress as the Fat Fascist orangeshitgibbon and First Lady Elon are doing by breaking the system for Putin's benefit is a feature, not an unintended consequence.
