You are closer to the truth of it than you know. In the mid to late 1960’s when we were in college together, we launched the local SDS chapter in our community. Our first project was starting an after school tutoring program for kids struggling in school from the nearby public housing projects. We used that as a way to get to know our neighbors and open dialogues with them about how to get more involved in local school boards and politics.
