Us Bruces think alike! I was hoping maybe someone would post this as it is very powerful and delivered from the heart. His part of the monologue that is relevant to the Maine tragedy begins around the 6:40 mark. Johnson says, "Prayer is appropriate in a time like this, that the evil can end and this senseless violence can stop.” And then he says something akin to, ". . . and let's leave it at that." Colbert jumps all over that, essentially saying, "NO, Mr. Speaker! You CAN'T simply 'leave it at that'!" That's the problem. Legislators just "leave it at that" and refuse to go the extra mile to do what the overwhelming majority of people in this country want. To do that would take strength, and Colbert asserts that if the Speaker wants to see an example of "strength", then he should look no further than the people of Lewiston, Maine and how they're coping with this. THERE'S your strength! Colbert then exhorts people to get out and vote for the change that needs to come. Bless him.
