I agree. The president’s actual job is to make decisions. Not answer gotcha questions. It is also to inspire confidence that he is making decisions for the benefit of the country, not for his personal benefit. (Not to stay out of jail, as is true of Donald and also Netanyahu.)
Our presidency has been turned into a performance for television. We want television to entertain us. Donald is far more entertaining than any serious candidate he ever debated. The Project 2025 people and billionaire donors behind Trump are not entertainers. They need him to distract from what they are about.
I think it would have inspired confidence if Joe Biden DID, without hesitation answer yes, to having a neurological workup, IF Donald agreed to the same.
The UK voters just decided that 14 years of conservative misrule was more than enough. They had listened to charismatic, entertaining Boris Johnson and Trump’s buddy, Nigel Farage. And they experienced what that brought them. They now have voted in a far less entertaining, un-charismatic speaker, the “beige” candidate. The Brits could remember, they did remember, the disastrous handling of COVID. And the effects of Brexit, which was sold to them as Take Back Control, to Make Britain Great Again.
How is it that so many of us do not remember Trump’s incompetence in dealing with the pandemic? Or the failure of his tax cuts to pay for themselves or to create jobs rather than allow stock buybacks? Or even Jan. 6, which we saw with our own eyes.
