As a Caregiver you WILL be judged…
🔹When my dad went into hospice, my stepmom decided to still work full-time. Her friends thought she should quit work and stay home to be with my dad. She made the best decision for herself.
🔹A year after my partner was recovering from a major stroke, I went on a mini-vacation by myself. My mom told me I was selfish and should have stayed home with him. I made the best decision for myself.
🔹Two years after my brother had a traumatic brain injury, a life-altering event, his wife left him. The judgment from people was fierce on this one! Yet, this was the best decision for her.
Here’s the thing: People don’t know your circumstances.
You will be judged by your friends, family, and strangers no matter what you do.
Caregiving is tough. The ones judging you are often the ones who have never been in your situation.
I see you.
You are doing the best you can.
