We arrived in Morro Bay at sunset and stopped at the beach before our rental. Emily wasted no time getting her paws wet. I shared a video directly from the beach with paid subscribers. It’s grand to be back!

For now, the Democrats’ calls to “reinvent themselves” are rhetorical than actual. Even if moderates try to shift the conversation away from identity politics or radical positions, it doesn’t make sense that the party base will follow. Even if progressives try to rally the rank and file around a bold economic populism, there is no reason…

Happy holidays to all at the Bulwark! I'm sharing something I wrote over on reddit; would love to get input on whether/not this is a good idea for a podcast. This suggestion seems to have
Bulwark vibes.
With Charlie’s departure earlier this year and Beg to Differ ending, a fun parlor game to play might be: is there a podcast format you’d like to see the Bulwark try?
I’m just free-associating here but try this: Choose a small town population 20,000 or less. Then find let’s say, a local doctor, teacher, receptionist and public worker and buy them lunch once a week (JVL pays). Have a rotating Bulwark moderate a convo between them. Just have them share stories about their town; what’s concerning them this week and longer term. No histrionics, no one trying to score points. And then rotate the town every six months or so.
Would you tune in? Am I describing a show that already exists? Welcome your take!
