Thank you. I re-read the paragraph and it's just as you say. McWhorter didn't assert that fundamentalism is irreversible, and my comment implied that he did. I appreciate the correction.

Interestingly, in the same paragraph he poses the really big question: "How do we insulate people with good ideas from the influence of the Third Wave Antiracists’ liturgical concerns? How do we hold them off from influencing the education of our young people any more than they already have?" I think of this website as one place where people are trying to find or forge a decent answer to that question, and I tremendously appreciate the essentially collaborative spirit of that effort here.
