Please go back and read. hundreds "to" thousands, not hundreds "of" thousands. Massachusetts only has ~60K deaths PER YEAR. How could it be hundreds "of" thousands. However, given the totality of the USA, with more time than a week, I could easily get to 100,001, which would allow me to pluralize "hundreds" OF "thousands. ;-)
