In case it’s not clear, Tate is not offering boys a way to become men. He offers damaged boys a way to stay damaged, and himself a way to stay in power by pretending he is helping them. He gets inside their heads and starts rearranging the wiring. He teaches them to read the world through grievance, rank, and contempt, so they keep coming back to him for the next hit of fake strength.
