I get the loyalty (and I've been loyal. I donated $35 -- again -- to his campaign hours before the "debate") but at some point loyalty must give way to pragmatism: who stands the best chance to win, and I no longer think it's Biden. That's where I am right now -- perhaps he will turn this sputtering campaign around, but it seems to be spiralling out of his control. If he had a better interview on Friday, I might not have changed my mind about him. Perhaps he will convince me yet, but I'm looking for the lifeboat.

(By the way, Jimmy Carter was primaries in 1980 by Ted Kennedy, but that's not why he lost.)
