Great News! The BYD X'Ian has arrived.
It has 7,000 cars on board.
On the journey here, it produced an estimate 20,000 tonnes of Co2.
So if you're looking forward to your zero emission EV, don't forget the 1,800kg it produced BEFORE IT EVEN LEFT THE FREAKING SHIP.
Your Chinese car has more than 10x the carbon footprint of a European car before either have added any miles to the odometer.
(and that doesn't include all the pollution that was generated in making the cars, and the batteries for those cars)
Net Zero is a scam.
Electric Cars are a scam.
The only real winner here is China.
Which is ironic, because they're meant to be the enemy.
Kinda like our muslim mayor of London (who's into the whole free Palestine, fly the flag thing) buying 18x 6.7 litre V8 diesel 7 tonne 'battle tested' military police vehicles for £300,000 each to patrol London, a city which is meant to be a peaceful, that has a low emissions zone for cleaner air, from Israel.
BONUS POINTS...
The amount of co2 that every one of these BYD cars 'has' before it leaves the boat is equivalent of almost 6,000 miles of Co2 from my Volvo 850 Tdi.
Most of the cheap leasing deals for EVs are for 5,000 miles per year, which means you won't 'pay back' the Co2 saving of an EV until well into year 2... and that's only 'paying back' the CO2 that was generated in bringing it to this country. We haven't even talked about what it took to manufacture the car....
And you'll replace the EV at year 3 anyway.
Not that you care, because it's a company car, or it's a motability benefit. No one in the right mind would be a brand-new car with real money, their own actual real money.
Not that money is real anyway, but that's a post for another day.
