A sane and reasonable appreciation of the balance of power and outcomes is not required to explain US decisions, in fact, once again, it is the opposite

No informed understanding of the Ukraine and the RF was necessary

It is precisely the not sane and un reasonable equations which attract and stimulate the US interference, and indeed fuel their victims/proxies

This can be explained by the priorities of their common ruling class, which is indeed concerned above all to diminish and oppress their own populations, rather than, rationally to expand the wealth and satisfaction of the people

The disjunct between ruling class and reason is so justified/described

One can regard these ruling classes as more interested in marching in step- in internal cohesion, than in outside or reasonable justification

So far, over the past few hundred years, this has worked very well for these ruling classes
