Seems like someone has shared this old essay somewhere (who?), and it has been read more times in the last 12 hours than in the last two years. There is this idea that everything on the internet is dead and forgotten in three days, but this is really not the case around here, and that is very encouraging as a writer. This piece, for example, took me and Johanna 150 hours to write and I doubt we would have had the stamina to put in that much effort if we’d thought it would be forgotten in three days. It is good that the reading public pays attention to old things, which encourages writers to put in the effort to do things that have some life in it, instead of filling endless funnels of rapid content. In other news, the owl on our farm just had babies, and their calls are infernal.
