What a self-flattering excuse to ditch their journalistic responsibilities and ethics. They felt the need to “protect” us, particularly the “us” who are too stupid to think for ourselves. No they didn’t. They just wanted to write op eds masquerading as journalism and ditch that pesky tedious part of writing known as research, citations and neutral fact-checking.
