The classmate who had the assigned locker next to mine in HS kept a KKK uniform in it. Our principal was black, but could say nothing. I’ve seen the KKK burn a cross on our county park within view of I-20. My Jr HS was “the black school,” my HS was “the white school,” and I was one of 6 white kids on my bus (we had a great time, btw), growing up not far from Philadelphia, MS, where Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner were murdered by the KKK. When self-righteous outsiders start preaching to those of us who lived it, even if from the white side, my blood boils. They have no clue, but evidently, self-awareness is not their strong suit.
