You could also look at it the other way around: That the obsession with AI merely reflects a pinnacle point in human history from which the rapid decline (fossilization) of human cognition takes place.
So rather than look at AI machines, programmed by humans to regurgitate "truths", look at humans becoming more and more AI-like, blindly relinquishing their supreme potential and independent thinking in exchange for desensitized automatonic existence.
To me, this is the real danger.
