For me the Catholic Church did something far worse. The children viewed the priests as near gods and so did their immediate families. The church would just move these priests along to another parish or catholic school knowing the priests were predators and pedophiles. Children victims of heinous acts. The church still is trying to keep in place in Maryland the Statute of Limitations so that these old priests cannot be sued for these crimes. Makes me sick to see a religious institution support such principles.
