Noted, but the First Council of Nicaea took place in 325 CE (and that's "Common Era", not "Christian Era", in case anyone misunderstands, which I prefer to "A.D.", although the actual count of years is the same, as I understand it), recording whatever the oral tradition had developed over the three hundred years plus since the events in question. And I suspect you agree with me that the purpose of first recording these stories, then putting together whichever ones fit the narrative the Council and its successors preferred, and finally promulgating them was largely political - secular - rather than spreading "the Good Word" for the sake of improving people's lives in the here and now. Tell them that God said that however awful their lives are now, God intended them to be just where they are and the bosses to be where THEY are, and if they are good little boys and girls and follow the rules they will be rewarded in "Heaven". contemptible.
