Newsletter writing trick I'm borderline obsessed with:
Before I hit send, I run this:
"You're a subscriber who's busy and annoyed. You open this email. Tell me the exact second you decide to delete it. Quote the sentence. Explain the micro-decision."
Caught stuff like:
Paragraph 3 starts with "moreover" (absolutely no human talks like this but then again maybe I’m no human?)
I took 4 sentences to get to the point
I used "leverage" unironically (JHong would’ve loved this word…)
Now I’m like super obsessed with deleting the delete triggers 🤣
What makes YOU delete an email? Asking for myself…
