C Skala -- I am retiring from academia this year and while there are many reasons I choose to retire relatively young, one of them absolutely is that I do not want to deal with this kind of (in my view) petty, disrespectful, and unproductive pseudo-activism. I am fortunate to work at a school that does not have that kind of culture (yet) aomng the students, but I anticipate that it is coming. And it certainly exists among many of the younger (and decidedly not among most of the older) faculty.
