There are instances appropriate for skilled nursing (if that's what it could be called) but for the most part it's a place where family members who are supposed to be "loved ones" are cast so they are not a burden (imagine that) on other "family" members. My mother lived with us the last 2 years of her life. At one point she fell while pulling weeds and the "doktors" sent her to the SNF for "rehab" (and Medicare money) We took her home against medical advice the same week. She lived with us another year. Yes, at times it was confining, her social security went to pay for a loving Christian woman to stay with her while we worked. And yes, we missed doing many of the things that we would normally do on the weekends. Looking back, the times we spent together were some of the best, the sacrifices made ended up being Blessings. Be in the Word, it is a lamp unto our feet, a light unto our path.
