Not sure why young people think WW2 was so distant that it has no relevance to the present. I would urge you to read about the fire-bombing of Hamburg and Dresden. These attacks were not carried out to find and kill German soldiers, but solely to murder women, children and old people. Israel is inflicting great pain and suffering on the people of Gaza in order to neutralize Hamas. You may have a principled objection to this as a pacifist, otherwise the Israeli attack on Gaza is within the bounds of such past operations by other nations.
