Peps Mccrae and Dr Jen Barker have released a paper about SEND interventions in mainstream schools.
They point sensibly to the growing SEND needs coming our way. But I am so disappointed. This is such low hanging fruit. The instinct to debunk rather than offer a bunk up is one we should check, not celebrate.
What do mainstream schools need? Stragegies that work. Professionals whose job entails searching through research just need to do better.
Overlays are a placebo? That should go in a positive column - it has moved out of my negative column, for which I am grateful. I’m sure that was not the intended outcome though.
