I have not heard and seen much of this bunch apart from looking them up after S (or some other ss) brought them up and I was certainly "impressed" by their characteristics, which your comment is vividly referring to. Which doesn't mean I would consider them harmless, exactly for the same reason you seem to dislike Shiba dogs and no-one would consider a mob harmless.

Regarding filter - I am sure everyone's ANTIsocial media ;-) usage has its main bearing on it.
