Three things I like about Substack

  1. You meet a better class of person

  2. It’s not run by the greediest man in the world

  3. I’ve forgotten what this one is

“The people are what matter to government, and a government should aim to give all the people under its jurisdiction the best possible life.”

Words from Frances Perkins, FDR's labor secretary and an architect of Social Security.

Remember this as the program is under attack.

Under new norms, DDF weighs in on alleged mystic

It’s fun to watch JD Vance stand up every 30 seconds or so and applaud like a trained chimp. He’s not terribly smart, but he is very nimble! But if anyone’s seen Vance’s soul, please report it to the lost’and’found. He needs something to resell after already selling his ass to Trump/Peter Thiel.

I do feel sorry for Elon, though, having to sit through this boring speech. He could be doing something more useful right now, like firing more food safety inspectors or siring more illegitimate children. What a waste.

I have another new rant coming out today. US intelligence is being ordered to disarm from Russian spies and cyber attacks. They are literally disarming us.

The exKGB dictator’s spies are in the building and they are leading America off of a cliff. We might not survive this

A Second American Revolution is coming … to save the Nation that rose up from the first.

Thanks to the United States Supreme Court for convincing Donald Trump that he could pursue every dangerous, terrible idea and never face consequences.

Things Trump did that he isn't talking about tonight...

-Fired 17 inspectors general and the top govt ethics director

-Halted anti-bribery enforcement and money laundering laws

-Dismantled CFPB at the behest of billionaires

-Put a corporate lobbyist in charge of the DOJ

"Drain the swamp."

Awwwww…….Poor Sam Alito is “stunned” that the Supreme Court actually acted like a co-equal branch of government for a change, ruling against Trump/DOGE freezing already allotted USAID funds. Or maybe he’s just pissed because he works for the executive branch. In any case, this has the makings of a true constitutional crisis (in his fever…

BREAKING: Rep. Mark Pocan has just introduced the ELON MUSK ACT which would ban "special" government employees like Musk from having federal contracts.

I see that Trump and his shoeshine boys are expecting an apology from Zelensky

Something along the lines of: ‘I’m really sorry Russia invaded us three years ago, and that we provoked them by trying to establish a democracy’ ?

It only takes five minutes to break the cycle.

Five minutes of exercise and you are back on the path. Five minutes of writing and the manuscript is moving forward again. Five minutes of conversation and the relationship is restored.

It doesn’t take much to feel good again.

It’s always the starting that feels impossible, isn’t it? But five minutes, that’s doable. Just enough to shake off the inertia and remind yourself that you can.

Love this. I have had many days when I walked when running was difficult. I opened my journal and just said hello when i was too tired to write the usual two pages. It took a while to switch to this mindset though. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

I can relate. As a recovering cancer survivor, joining Substack to chronicle my experience for the benefit of others was the first step. Receiving an incredible outpouring of love and support from loved ones, friends and strangers has made me feel incredibly grateful. And getting the go-ahead to restart my daily workout routine just 5 days is cherry atop the icing atop the cake.

This is true! I find that focusing on one day at a time is helpful. Even more bite-sized, if I have a good morning, I can almost bet on a good day. That’s what I’ve written about in my new post, “10 Tips for Mindful Mornings—practical steps that can help you start your day with intention and set a peaceful tone for everything that follows.”:

Introducing On Brand: The Wellness Edit

Often, at least in my experience, it is not the action that is hard, but rather, taking the step to perform the action.

I have found myself dreading and procrastinating on a task for five hours, only to complete it in ten minutes without any problem.

Simplicity at it’s finest !

So good!

Absolute Truth!

This sounds so simple, but it’s so true! Love it!

I don’t want to wake up at 5am and optimize every second of every day any more.

That mentality served me at one point but now I just want my nervous system to be regulated so I can enjoy life.

Unrushed enjoyment. That’s the goal.

Great quote:

“Don’t fall into the trap of mourning a life you can still live.”

Never give up.
