There's always a sound case for education, but here the problem calls for psychotherapy... and probably, first, for something like electroshock therapy.

The prospect is frightening. Think of the strong young German soldiers who surrendered at Stalingrad... and died like flies. Not just because conditions in Soviet PoW camps were awful, not just because they were sick and starving. Above all, because the bottom had fallen out from their world. They, the champions of the Master Race, had been fed on lies, dreams and propaganda... and they'd found hell on earth, hell, and defeat at the hands of so-called sub-men.

It is high time to show again films of Hitler and Mussolini, Stormtroopers and Fascist squadristi at work, the dictators posturing, raving and ranting, the crowds delirious, the armed men in serried ranks, almost uncountable… then Berlin before. And Berlin after. In ruins. The death camps, conditions in Dachau and Bergen-Belsen when the liberators came, that ghastly scene in Milan with the dictator's corpse hanging reviled. The power, seemingly invincible. The promises, the triumphs, the horrible end.

Alongside Goebbels et al, haranguing the crowds, show Drumpf, DeSantis and the Freedom Caucus doing their thing (whether raving or running away...) YES. Show them alongside the SA, the SS, the squadristi and the March on Rome, America’s very own Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and sundry neo-Nazis parading. Show January 6th…

That, and their great model, Putin. Him and the hell he has unleashed on Ukraine and on his own people. The Blitzkrieg that he turned the key and started… but that wouldn’t start. Instead of “lightning advances”, chaos and quicksands. Instead of cheering crowds and flowers, fighters. Instead of a walkover, another Russian disgrace, mass destruction of populations and the infrastructures that serve them. And now, suicidal self-destruction, targeting the very gains the adventure was supposed to secure.

Showing TRUTH. Hard truth.

Hammering it in, again and again.

Just look where institutionalized lies, polite hypocrisy, false equivalences, blind, exclusive concern with dollars and ratings, news as entertainment, and that constant refusal to call a spade a spade... have gotten us... At a time when the world is on fire and we are faced—not with showmen's charades, but with very real issues of survival.

The sheer irrelevance of the far Right and their great stock of diversions and prejudice traps is mind blowing. Can people not SEE the wildfires, can they not see the smog, the floods, the storms and the droughts... already at our throats?

Our ship is going down, and still they keep playing their idiot games. Still they spout ideology, still they take mere words for realities, blind and trying to blind all others, deaf and deafening us, unfeeling and thoughtless, numbing all other minds and leading all to death and destruction.

Are we all idiots too, that we cannot see what is staring us in the face?
