Michele, I live in Indiana....50ish miles from Indy. I had heard of the KKK when I was a child and burning of the crosses. I too finished reading that same book and boy did it open my eyes. I can see tfg doing the same as "Steve". Only "Steve" didn't come from money. My niece was visiting over the weekend and I told her about the book. She told me that she always thought that her dad, my bother-in-law, was a member. I hope she was wrong and he died a few years ago so I can't ask him. However, I remember his mindset and it could be possible. I remember the poverty in our area too. I will have to check on that book!
