There’s nothing wrong with Billionaires having billions. There is something inherently wrong with billionaires cutting your benefits, and help to the poor through USAID, and running around with a chainsaw giggling.
You can have power or billions. But we refuse to be an oligarchy

Please remember that mockery of politicians and powerful public figures is one of the most valuable forms of free speech. It’s certainly dangerous to be funny in many countries around the world. In more than a few countries, comedy is a crime. And, here in the USA, I’m talking about the mockery of any public figure, regardless of political party. As soon as a politician attacks comedians then you know that politician wants to control speech. And, as soon as any of you start questioning the role and need of humor, I’m gonna mock and challenge you. It’s easy to offer and celebrate praise. It’s more complicated to offer and celebrate mockery. And I’m here to praise Mike Myers. He KILLED as Elon Musk.
He nailed it! 😂😂😂 The most impactful comedians have always been political. Josh Johnson is my current fave - he’s so skilled at calmly & brilliantly tackling the hot button topics. It’s funny to me (not in the ha ha way, alas) when people complain about comedians getting political - those people are only happy with the court jesters who wouldn’t dare risk their necks/livelihoods by overtly offending the “king.” There’s “punching up” and “punching down” in comedy. Punching up is important because it helps us gauge how free our society really is.
Love your sentiment— but I wish this skit was funny, like SNL used to be. They are all so talented but so captive to ideology that they’ve lost the plot…
Why shouldn’t humor have an ideology? Humor isn’t neutral ground. And I certainly think there are many funny people who come from different ideologies than I do.
Absolutely! But you can’t be so captive that it’s all about message vs comedy - that’s my objection. It’s like trying to write “message” stories - comes through as inauthentic.
“One of the most valuable forms of free speech,” yes! Thank you for the reminder. Mockery of public figures is one measure of freedom. As long as SNL (and others) are allowed to continue we can say, at least to this degree, we are a free people.
