Supercessionism: The sacrificial system of the OT is rendered inert by Christ, who was a sacrifice so ultimate there is no remainder for the blood of animals to fill. Sacrifice need no longer be practiced by anyone, Jew or Gentile.

Church Fathers: The sacrificial system of the OT is active and ongoing. This system was given to the Jews, so they follow it literally, but the Gentiles must follow it spiritually. That is, the literal sacrificial system corresponds to spiritual realities. For us Gentiles, our altar is the heart and our sacrifice is prayer. That is our “fragrant offering” that reaches up to heaven. Everything the sacrificial system did for the Jews, prayer does for us. Nothing has been decommissioned, only transformed in Christ drawing all nations to himself. All must still participate in the sacrificial system: Only the how differs.
