I don’t disagree in the slightest that human hubris has crossed important boundaries repeatedly. A large pile of examples there, and on that you are absolutely correct, imo. This posting of the sequence found is *not* that, however.
The NCBI database already has data on half a million species, with nearly 2.5 billion sequences, all publicly accessible.
It’s important to understand what the sequence represents, and if you do truly understand it, to pause and then ask the reframed question again: what exactly do you think the public is capable of doing with this information?
