Trusting a Mad Doctor Funded by the CIA

Dr. Mary Morrow sought a psychiatry fellowship with Dr. Ewen Cameron but was instead admitted as a patient after Cameron deemed her "nervous" following a physical exam. Over 11 days, Morrow was subjected to Cameron's de-patterning experiments, which included electroshock therapy and barbiturates. This treatment caused brain anoxia (oxygen deprivation), leading to her hospitalization. As a result, Morrow suffered from prosopagnosia, a neurological condition that impaired her ability to recognize faces.

“I'm 68 years old now. Most of us who have suffered from Ewen Cameron are getting old. I don't have a cent left in savings. I've spent it all on lawyers. The stigma of this case ruined me professionally. I think I'll be dead and buried by the time this is over.” -Dr. Mary Morrow, 1985
