Some say that the progressives and the left, the Democrats, etc. are attempting to provoke the extremist elements on the right, their adversaries (or almost as useful, promoting and encouraging and funding the extremist elements on the left). There are numerous cases in the US that have been documented of the left even masquerading as the right, in a form of "street theatre".

For example, the Charlottesville Virginia rioters, on both the left and the right reportedly arrived together in the same buses, in sort of caricaturish "costumes". The police were given "stand down" orders so the confrontation could proceed unimpeded. The organizer of the entire affair was one of the prominent leaders of Occupy Wall Street, a notable left wing event. And after, this organizer has effectively disappeared, "vanished", for years now. Maybe he will eventually resurface, but perhaps not. Maybe he will just continue to "community organize" (Obama's alleged "profession") from behind the scenes, secretly.

The same sort of nonsense and even the same costumes played out during the Virginia Gubernatorial elections. The Democrats acting as right wingers were unmasked and forced to admit they were just pretending to be on the right and "MAGA" supporters.

We have even seen plenty of examples of what appear to be undercover Federal forces pretending to be Right wing protestors, in costume over the last few years. I am not sure this tactic really works any more since so many people have figured out what is going on. No one takes this nonsense seriously anymore, for the most part. There are lots of rumors about January 6th, even before the day itself. And lots of evidence that something is not completely kosher with the mainstream and leftist narrative. Including the illegal destruction of many gigabytes of collected evidence and details by the January 6th committee.

The idea is that these leftist elements want to scare the pubic into demanding some sort of order. And then they have the justification to swoop in with more authoritarianism, seizing more power and control, and abolishing more rights. And this is a sort of "one-way" process. Once order is restored, the leftist elites never give up their power and control and allow people to have the rights they have abolished.
