I would say rather that many Mainers are...how do I say this?...avid consumers of Fox News. Like the "Rust Belt" Maine has lost a lot of their traditional industries and there are a lot of former, once (reasonably) prosperous, middle-class Mainers who no longer enjoy the comfortable existence that had been an expectation for several generations (paper mills, lumber mills, skilled shoe makers, etc). They are angry, under-educated, under-employed and ready to blame whomever Fox says to blame and Fox will never tell them the truth.
