hello everyone I am still recuperating from a brain injury and hope to be back writing by the end of the month. meanwhile i have been staying at my parents’ house in the longleaf pine stands of North Carolina cosplaying as Siegfried dallying in the forest surrounded by the sounds of birds. (Though I like to think I’m nicer to my parents than he is.)
Israel and the Palestinians: The Road to 7th October, whose bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo… airs this Monday, is such a travesty, so discredited by the very historical events it promises to explain, that it earns a glowing, five-star review from the Guardian.

The problem with Social Security isn't "fraud."
The problem with Social Security is that as the rich have gotten richer, more of their income has escaped the cap on the SS payroll tax.
In fact, millionaires stop paying SS taxes today.
We can fix this by scrapping the cap.
Imagine reading Exodus and siding with Pharaoh. Imagine reading the Christmas story and thinking King Herod was the good guy. Imagine watching the crucifixion and thinking Pilate was right. Imagine reading Revelation and believing Rome is on God’s side. Because in almost every way, this is how white evangelicals understand reality.

Interesting opinion. What would you consider a qualified candidate for president that could achieve a majority vote in this sick time we live in. I have voted for two women in their bid to be our leader only to see them denied to lead us into the future. I considered them FAR more qualified they the opponent!

They’re also losing readership because they have lost the plot of what journalism is (it isn’t opinion, two-sidesing or projecting the future) and how the free press operates faithfully in a democracy. They’re crap and in a free market we no longer want what they’re selling.
Well put, Tom. Exactly describes the so-called cable news outlets, and newspapers, and their fear of surviving four years of relative peace, joy and reverence of our democracy. Trump and his chaos is much preferred for viewer/readers.
it is universally true of humanity. We need bad things to make us write, work, vote, gossip.

Another reason not to ever go back to trusting the mainstream media. They thrive on bad news, horrific accidents, school shootings, etc. And over the years the competence of many journalists has been found wanting.
