Lamenting the loss of what once was on another site, I love “following” people here simply because I cannot get emails on the regular from all the ones whose wonderful work I want to see.

I had a question related to rollover.
There is a 27 point difference w/ rollover. Meaning, I sold at 4511, and the mark is at 4538 (If I want to buy / close the trade) for December contract.
You had mentioned that this point gradually shrinks. If so, how does it negatively impact my portfolio? Will I lose money because of this shrinkage?
Could you explain more about this shrinkage?
P.S. : I did /MES rollover, so not bad as /ES. but still want to understand the above.
