I have no vested interest in either position, not being American - but I would like to point out that this petition is inspired by a disagreement over a newspaper not endorsing the political candidate favoured by its editorial staff and journalists. That seems like a very partisan issue and something that is at odds with any conception of a free press that serves a positive function within society by holding all forms of power to account, surely?
