I updated 11 of my posts’ subtitles to make them more compelling to myself. I notice a few patterns…

1. quoting someone else in a subtitle feels ‘opaque’ somehow (“Nietzsche:, Bentham:, Bradbury:”). Heavy in an inaccessible way

2. several subtitles were variants of “this is a piece of writing”, which feels redundant, wasteful (“a brief overview”, “half-written riffs”)

3. some subtitles felt too vague – I probably added them without thinking about it, just lightly touching on the vibe (“revelry and contemplation”, “mortal people problems, mirite?”, “they exist!”)
