One can kind of see Mean Girls as deeply propagandistic myth created by a perspicacious Gen X woman for Millennial girls to 1) make sense of the changing world in a structured way; 2) make feminine power dynamics digestible to men… only 3) in a way that tediously flatters womanly purity by aestheticizing Cady's transgressions in a way that lets her off the hook narratively while making Regina into a sort of sin eater for femininity, with all feminine transgressions transmogrified into a kind of malebrained overt twink-bitchiness that ofc gets her banished by softer girls to the butch concentration camp; 4) displace the sociopathic Karate Kid values of her youth with a sort of cloying egalitarianism out of step with how humankind fawns and fans and fucks--one p much all Millennial women bought into en masse.
And so a decade later you have Lena Dunham coming up in the aftermath. Sees how those values are failing her. Enough of a fat jew to not threaten other women when she points out how bitches be, but just pretty enough back then for men to think it might be neat if she ate their cum at some juncture. Which lets her say some actually interesting things as someone who clearly still had the dumdum libtard values Tina instilled but was also honest enough as artist to show how they're all obv fake and gay. She wasn't a propagandist--she was an honest artist.
But she also had some of Tina's old goals. She wanted to help Zoomettes growing up in culturally fragmenting postmodern chaos by establishing a myth for an age defined by spectacle and noise. She wanted to make female opacity and the often devastating heights of Mil girl retardation more legible to men in a way that kept them liking women. And she wanted to force everyone to look at her naked and accept that she and Adam Diver are an entirely logical pair and iconic screen couple.
And it was thus we went from the ethic of Mean Girls to the ethic of Girls. Another decade later Zoomettes are clearly the product of its ethos, and clearly live it a lot more beautifully than Lena ever could. And they do so scalably, bringing brownstone values to deserts and swamps.
Which is sort of the problem. The Girls mindset was invented by a fat Jewess to undermine Tina Fey's polite WASP obscurantism. But it's asymmetric and affective and a whole bunch of other jew york shit… not something you need in high schools of west virginia. It also paved the way for Red Scare culture which obv we have to thank for making random bitches in Iowa hot and cunty cool girls but idk guys if it was worth it anymore guys bc there aren't any actual values these days.
And the Zoomettes will never make a work of art like that for iPad girlies. Whatever there actually is there is too fragmentary and peformative (also lazy).
The closest thing they'll get is Andrew Tate Mythopoetics.
