Eddie Ray Routh was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
I find it interesting that Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield were both shot and killed by Eddie Ray Routh (who apparently shot each one with a different handgun) before they could draw their holstered 45-caliber 1911's. Lesson learned - Don't hang around with mentally unstable crazy people who are armed, no matter how good you think you are.
Like I implied before, Chris thought he was so good he could handle anything, even though he knew he was in possible danger, but in actual fact he and his buddy were disabled / killed before they could even draw their handguns.
The rules are different when the fight is arm's length distance vs. long range with a scoped rifle. The other guy doesn't have to be better, just faster and/or luckier.
But then again, apparently the great American Sniper's sense of hubris over-rode his common sense.
Plus maybe Karma had something to do with it...
