Ms. Applebaum was not introduced in Persuation in her capacity as a wife, nor as a resident of Poland, nor as particularly gifted in languages, but solely as a contributor to The Atlantic and a Senior Fellow of the Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Therefore, I beg to differ with my speculations about Ms. Appelbaum's civic and private geographic location. But whether I have to share her view that Ukraine would be in a strategically better position today if it had nuclear weapons, because of its obvious proximity to the scene of the war, I may still doubt. And it remains questionable to me what qualification I would have to possess, in your opinion, in order to be allowed to comment on the language and the arguments of Mrs. Appelbaum?
