The Best Thing is our weekly discussion thread where we share the one thing that we read, listened to, watched, did, or otherwise enjoyed recently.
My best thing this week is actually two things. I’m cheating.
Yesterday, our kiddo was home from daycare recovering from something that set her stomach off. She got a full day of Daniel Tiger which she enjoyed immensely - particularly the episode where Daniel dances in The Nutcracker. Shout out to PBS Kids for making my kid’s recovery day a happy one.
My best thing is the article I read after kiddo went down for bed last night. “What Squirrels Taught Me About Life and Divorce” (from The Atlantic) was a wonderfully cozy read about noticing and caring for the beings around us while we care for ourselves.
Whenever I'm feeling like I can't handle my mental health (I am autistic and also suffer from pretty severe seasonal depression from October through April), I opt out of everything else and watch Odd Couples on The Dodo website. Those animal friends make me laugh and cry (in a good way). Although manufacturing any car pollutes, in less than 2 years, an Electric Vehicle starts paying environmental dividends. “ The more EVs get driven, the cleaner they get.”
So, as I get ready to replace the old 2007 Toyota in my driveway, getting a EV or 🔌 plugin hybrid is probably the way to go.
Hopefully, by the time I run that down, we will figure how to recycle the batteries in those cars.
