With American war rhetoric directed at China reaching ever higher levels, China is understandably concerned that the rhetoric will translate into military provocations. In the US, the MSM has repeatedly suggested that China will send military supplies to Russia. The reality, however, is more likely that China needs Russian weapons systems to keep the US at bay. Today, both Andrei Martyanov and Larry Johnson point to the recent meeting of the Chinese defense minister met in Moscow—not just with his Russian counterpart, but with Vladimir Putin himself. Martyanov and Johnson see this as a very significant signal, that Russia will send Kinzhal hypersonic missiles to China:
This video is cued up for the portion on the meeting in Moscow. It also contains other material of interest.
The provision of hypersonic missiles to China would likely neutralize the US Navy with regard to China. Aggressive provocations directed at China would put any US surface ships within about 1,200 miles at risk of an attack for which they would have no defense. This move would have the effect of putting the US on notice that any military moves against China would most likely need to be at the nuclear level—whether submarine launched or intercontinental. Yes, we do have all those bases surrounding China. Yes, our nuclear arsenal is far more capable than China’s. However, most of those bases will also be within reach of the Kinzhal, and a nuclear launch on China would run the substantial risk of Russia launching on the US.
This is what war mongering rhetoric has brought us to.
In Aus yesterday, our Foreign Minister made a speach about AUKUS and regional stability.
Basically, Aus backs the US in exerting its dominating influence.
She is all tip, and no iceberg.
China has this habit of getting a sample for evaluation of military equipment from the Russians, reverse engineering it, and producing it themselves, and even exporting it, and it was sometimes improved over the original, and cheaper.
Due to that, Russia stopped selling China cutting edge military equipment a while ago.
I would be surprised if Russia would change that policy.
